The New York Giants have chosen between Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston for next Sunday’s game.
The New York Giants are coming off a disastrous week after losing their last game. It’s clear the team hasn’t been able to maintain the momentum they had at the start of the season. They didn’t fully utilize their new talent, and now most of them are sidelined with various injuries.
The losses of Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo were a major blow to the offense, leaving Jaxson Dart completely isolated. The young quarterback from Ole Miss is the present and future of the Giants, who are looking to protect him as best they can and give him the tools to become the team that pulls off impossible feats again, like in Eli Manning’s prime.
Last Sunday, the ghosts of Denver reappeared, and New York couldn’t hold onto their lead. Against the Bears in Chicago, they couldn’t maintain their advantage, especially after Dart left the game. The quarterback suffered a concussion and couldn’t continue, so a disappointing Russell Wilson had to take over.
The starting quarterback of New York Giants
Mike Kafka, the new interim head coach, has decided that the starting quarterback this Sunday will be 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston. The franchise has decided to keep Jaxson Dart in concussion protocol and is working to ensure his full recovery. Thus, after seven consecutive games, Dart will not be leading the “Big Blue” offense.
It’s clear they no longer have confidence in Russell Wilson and that he will not be re-signed beyond the year remaining on his contract. Winston will have his first opportunity as the starting quarterback against the Green Bay Packers. The game will be at MetLife Stadium and will serve as a test for Jameis to try and secure the position, although once he recovers, Jaxson Dart will be the starter and is expected to become one of the team’s captains very soon.
